Description

Providing and coordinating care for a loved one is challenging business. In addition to managing daily needs, medications, and more, caregivers are often responsible for managing financial and legal affairs for parents or other family members or friends in an increasingly complex environment.

Where should caregivers begin, in terms of managing finances, daily expenses, and the potential future costs of assisted living, skilled nursing, or home and community-based services? What are the reasonable expenses that should be anticipated? What public resources might be available to assist? In addition, how can caregivers be sure that advanced directives, living wills, and other documents are in proper order?

Bill Holman, CPA, NHA, MAGS, Graduate Program Director with the Erickson School at UMBC, and Jonathan May, Esq., Faculty Member, will discuss the financial and legal issues that caregivers need to be prepared to manage, and they will provide some simple tools and resources that can be leveraged to make life a little easier. Join us for this interesting and informative hour-long program, and bring your questions and concerns to share with the experts!
